The Insurrection act will be invoked in the U.S. somewhere between July 2025 and July 2026 depending on the opportunity/excuse.
An election system where candidates register actions they promise to take and voters select actions they like. The names of the candidates aren't on the ballot and actions are randomly ordered. Closed list selection of candidates proportional to the popularity of their party's promises.

This is, frankly, what we are all thinking - decades of American administrations did nothing about this either because they were using Epstein, because he had kompromat on someone, or because they had a highly placed mole who protected him.

This is the central question: who protected Epstein?
Christopher Steele, who used to head up MI6's Russia desk, told Tom Swarbrick that the latest Epstein files published by the DOJ on Friday show the extent of the connection between the disgraced paedophile financier and Russia.
Former MI6 spy insists Jeffrey Epstein was 'recruited by Russian organised criminals' and 'likely' had kompromat on Trump | LBC
Mr Steele told Tom Swarbrick that he believes Epstein - and subsequently the Russians who were handling him - had kompromat on Mr Trump

Ontario's OHIP system builds in a conflict of interest for doctors: do what is right for the patient versus do what is right for billing.

It is a fundamental flaw in the model that has real consequences.

Remove the conflict by introducing funded medical offices with physicans on salary.

Straight up fascism
Floored by this story. A man wrote a pollite email to a federal prosecutor objecting to the deportation of an Afghan seeking asylum. DHS responded with an administrative warrant to get the man's info from Google, then visited his home to intimidate him.

What are your thoughts on this? I am attracted to the hope that this would be a deterrent, doubtful that it actually would, and don't want to live in a country which could consider dropping an nuclear bomb on people. On balance, it's a no from me.

Did we hear "nationalize U.S. elections" again? Let's review best practices.

Hand-marked, hand-counted paper ballots, subject to documented chains of custody & transparent counting processes, are the gold standard globally for safe, secure elections. And yes, this includes mail-in voting.

There has to be an investigation into the many individuals who committed heinous crimes alongside Epstein.

There should be a special prosecutor, or a congressional investigation, that looks into the crimes and the ongoing cover-up. It has to happen.

With the depth and breath of the wealthy's involvement with Epstein, I'm starting to think that too much wealth corrupts.

For the sake of society, and for the sake of the rich, we have to codify in law how much wealth disparity we will allow and enforce it.

*87% of conservatives who could travel to Calgary during a winter cold snap, while conservative conventions are (conveniently) happening in their own provinces

Don’t believe anyone who says there has been a “pause”, a “drawdown”, a “change in tone”, a “shift in policy”. It’s all PR.

I think this is a very real possibility. Slow elections are more secure. Hand count paper ballots. Make it part of the process that election results are only known a couple of weeks after the election.
