What's My Motivation changed how I think about creating characters, both at and away from the TTRPG table. This book has helped me look more closely at why characters act the way they do. Frankly, it has improved my GMing. Now we have a sequel on the way. Back it!

It's really unfortunate about what has happened with @inkarnate.com lately. This was my go to software for the longest time, as both a creator and a GM.

But with the recent changes, especially regarding the use of AI Assets, I can't in good faith continue to use it.

I had moved to Inkarnate because it was easier to use for commercial work, and wanted to get proficient on it. I am more than happy to go back to DD.

And I agree - this was the rock that broke this particular camel's back for me.

I saw that the comment was made internally that they were "Not afraid of losing customers" and that take very blatantly tells me their opinions of their users.

This on top of the changes without announcement, and increase in bugs makes me know that I need to go elsewhere.

This and their follow comment are vitally important. These companies "Know" that they won't suffer as much loss as they will gain in using it

Its on us as consumers to show them the error of this. For those with paid subscriptions please cancel and even if you don't be sure to say you won't use it

Agreed, and I think that is the most frustrating part of this whole situation. We have people at the top who have a decision, and seem to refuse to change it. Reading through the conversation I sensed a subtext of "I am right, and you are wrong. Nothing you say will change that."

Not what I want.

There is a reddit post that covers a lot of it, but to summarize things: Inkarnate is moving towards allowing AI art into their marketplace. This, along with some comments made by their internal staff, makes me (and many others) feel like it is only a matter of time until they start using AI art

Right? I started using them almost 5 years ago, and really liked them. But ultimately their move towards AI art, along with some of the comments from their staff towards AI, made me unwilling to use them any more.

Super excited to start sharing information about this project. To say that What's My Motivation changed how I approach character building is an understatement.

It helped me rethink how I looked at making three-dimensional character, making it easier and much more fulfilling.
