Some of you don't necessarily know the whole story of *why* I care so much about the rise of the far right, about countering terrorism, and about building peaceful and thriving societies.

This video is a pretty good intro.

BREAKING: This is huge news, the EU's equivalent of the 🇺🇸Supreme Court's 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges ruling.

🇪🇺Court of Justice just ruled all 🇪🇺countries must recognise same-sex marriages granted in other member states.

Lots of good advice and resources in this thread for parents and teachers.

It's not reasonable or practical to ban kids from the internet until adulthood, but keeping an open dialogue can go a long way in mitigating harms and teaching skills that will be beneficial for a lifetime.
Steps parents can take now:

1) Check whether your child is using a school-issued computer or device for online gaming or chats.

2) Talk with your child about how they use the device: games, apps, chat features, who they’re talking to, how long they’re online.

AWS crashed a couple of weeks ago, and now Cloudflare - the strength of the Internet was allegedly that it's built on distributed infrastructure, but when we all build on stacks relying on like 5 providers and they all rely on each other we still have single points of failure so we're still screwed.

What is sort of wild is the extent to which the political landscape of the US is still defined by a war that ended 160 years ago...
as a white liberal with Southern roots, quite frankly, I think other white liberals from the South need to get the fuck over their oddly defensive attitude about what should be pretty blindingly obvious.
I understand why some white liberals from the Deep South want to insist that there isn't something distinct (and bad) about Southern political culture but the problem with this is that we wouldn't even have this idea of "The South" as distinct from the rest of the US if there wasn't a there there
