With all the amazing commentary on Bad Bunny, I wanted to nod to Brandi Carlile's performance of America the Beautiful. Katharine Lee Bates, a prof at my alma mater, Wellesley, (I lived in Bates hall for 2 years), wrote the poem. Bates lived with her "companion" Katharine Coman for over 40 years.

UK Wind Power has fallen to 8.6GW this morning. With 0.4GW of Solar we are burning 12GW of Gas as well as importing 0.5GW. Hydro is 0.2GW. Nuclear is 4.2GW and the awful Biomass 2.8GW The price of wholesale electricity over the past 24 hours was £85 per MWh. #renewables

So many people willing to blame religion for the US’s ills (and it plays a role there’s no question) but a lot of those same people won’t investigate the role of individualism to the detriment of the collective - which is a related, but more pervasive issue
