It's hard to help Americans left behind because so much of US identity is rooted in individualism. The average American conservative holds all three positions at once:

— Virtue signals about supporting US manufacturing
— Against raising the minimum wage
— Buys foreign imports because they're cheap

Basic math, numbers from 2024:

US exports to Canada = $349B
Canada exports to US = $413B

Population Canada = 40M
Population US = 340M

Canada pays $/per capita = $8,725
US pays $/per capita = $1,214

US-Canada trade largely favours US, when considering population size. No "US trade deficit". CQFD

I think the least anyone who cares can do is not go on holiday to the US for the foreseeable future. For work it’s a bit more complicated.

Trump never had a peace plan for Ukraine. He had a plan for Ukraine's surrender, with a colonial resource grab. As Zelenskyy rightly refused it, or to cooperate in Trump's TV spectacular, the US has now cut Ukraine off.

The radicalisation of much of the right in Britain far exceeds that of the left under Corbyn. (I say that as a staunch critic of Corbyn).

It's essential that decent Conservatives speak out, if they don't want the likes of Cummings, Oakeshott and Jenrick to prostitute their tradition to an arsonist.
