The Laken Riley Act was egregious overreach that put many people in detention who did not need to be there, thus facilitating deportation (either by people "giving up" and leaving or deportation by order). It absolutely assisted "mass deportation."

National Guard is not ICE. This is not what they volunteered to do, but they have to follow orders and so far the orders are mostly to stand around doing not much of anything.
