I play too many tabletop games. Busy raising a small human who just keeps getting bigger.

“Listen up, Eeyore. The world ends with you. If you want to enjoy life, expand your world. You gotta push your horizons out as far as they'll go." - A.A. Milne, "The House at Pooh Corner", 1928.
Please enjoy these excerpts from 1912’s “A Hoosier Chronicle”:

- a dude bragging about a bargain he got on a rare item, extremely 2020s Midwestern meme

- those darn girls today (1898 edition)

- banana peels, causing slips for over a century

- someone being sick of home maintenance appointments

Didn't something recently happen regarding this? Something in violation of gdpr and quite criminal? I can't remember www.theguardian.com/media/2025/o...

The numbers must be really bad. This district has been a 52/48, 53/47 kind of D district lately.
Former Indiana Secretary of Public Safety Jennifer-Ruth Green, a Republican, has withdrawn from the race for Republican nomination in Indiana's 1st Congressional District.

Since I had difficulty finding information about it online, and since not everyone has a hardware wizard like @robinhoodie.bsky.social as a contact: if you’ve got a TurboGrafx 16 Mini and you’re not sure what power adapter to use with it, use the power adapter from an NES or SNES Mini. Works great.

Wild that we live in a world where Nintendo’s reissuing VB games and putting out a couple of canceled ones, and SEGA still doesn’t have a single SEGA Saturn game out there on modern consoles

‘bout to go out for shoveling round 3, we’ve cracked the 1 foot mark here
Snowfall totals for Indiana and vicinity. All the reports I've seen here around town are in the 10-12" range, placing us firmly in the light orange. Multiple reports over by Columbus & Greensburg higher than 12, hence the dark orange there.

Started in on a new-to-me game, and I like the vibe, but boy howdy am I in event flag hell. Time to keep a walkthrough up in a tab.

Quick, what’s your favorite Wikipedia article title, mine is “Jimmy Carter Rabbit Incident”

Sorry for the quote but the initial post got buried by replies; finished this VN on Steam Deck today and I think some folks will get enjoyment out of the screenshots
5) Culina: Hands in the Kitchen #rollcredits (Steam Deck) A VN/restaurant management sim. The VN portion was fairly straightforward (paying attention to what people say, checking all the map areas at every time period to see if you could progress).

2026 completed video games!

1) Puzzle Quest Immortal Edition (Steam) #rollcredits. Gifted by a friend at Christmas. This game is pretty much as good as I remembered it from cycling through all the characters on DS/360. I had a grand time buzzing through with a Ranger and will absolutely play more.

My 2025 board game wrapup! These are physical plays only; I don’t log digital plays (it would drive me crazy and the experience just isn’t the same).

Most played game of the year was the brilliant 2020 cooperative game Regicide, which I would love to see grow in popularity and audience.

Book Thread 2026! Finished book #1: Bible Adventures. In addition to learning more about the unlicensed NES developer Color Dreams that I was only vaguely aware of, I particularly enjoyed the relevance of 1990s Christian bookstores, as a person who grew up in the 80s/90s in a Christian school.

ACNH villager: “Let’s give 2025 the sendoff it deserves!”

Me: “I don’t think Animal Crossing will allow me to do that.”

My 2025 in video games!

Favorite 2025 release: Final Fantasy Tactics: Ivalice Chronicles

Very good but one critical flaw: Shantae Advance (poor sound); Kirby Triple Deluxe (hyper mode very repetitive); Ys Memoire: Oath in Felghana (two bosses render and move at faster speed than all the others).

Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remaster #rollcredits. Largely agree with what @evokerfordogs.bsky.social said earlier today. I like and appreciate the glow up. Fleshing it out from 5-8 hours to 10-12 hours didn’t feel overlong. But it also is more interesting as a relic than it is entertaining to me.

Me: “I listened to a podcast today about Sprawlopolis [a card game I like], and it had listener testimonials. One said, you might know me from the BoardGameGeek thread in 2020, when I played through all 816 combinations of goals.”

Wife: “Homer Simpson, backing into the bushes.”

I’ve been Darmok’d.

Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate #rollcredits Played on Steam Deck. My playtime was 2 hours of blitzing story, hitting a brick wall, 18 hours of learning how to play the game and work the system, then 2 more hours of blitzing story. Level up jingle drove my wife nuts.

At the bookmobile, where there’s a “would you rather” poll on the whiteboard.

Kid: “would you rather be Santa or an elf?”

Me: “would I rather do all the behind-the-scenes work and not get the credit?”
