I like good movies and terrible movies, and I have two cats. Narrative games are rad too

I guess i should do a “games i finished” thread

Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind

Clunky as hell, some of the worst “guess what I’m thinking” gameplay since old clunky Sierra games, but i loved it nonetheless

Pacing ramps in a thrilling fashion and had no idea where it was going!

it's been the same as moving off Twitter and deleting Facebook; minimal effort, more control of my human existence, a huge free mental health boost

if you're considering it, just make a plan today and do it, be free

moved off google products last week (not because of the wrong news about their AI, but it reminded me) and it's been super easy? a piece of cake? the only downside is a tiny bit more admin for me??

a week is obviously short term, but so far i am delighted how little it impacted my life

This past month has been a real whirlwind, I’ve:
- done my first ever plasma donation
- gotten back to the gym consistently
- started meal prep
- been weighing myself daily and seeing a slow consistent downward trend
- sent pokemon cards off to be graded
- scheduled reminders for key personal events

It was great fun to rewatch The Goodies for the first time in about thirty years (Kitten Kong, of course)

So many great sight gags and wordplay, Graeme, Bill and Tim were so damn good

sometimes you gotta listen to your tattoo artist’s advice and stop constantly doing chores in your free time and give an hour to yourself to decompress

My god, it took me years to track this down again. Like, I don’t think I’ve seen it for twenty years

Nice to not be watching it in a dinky compressed realmedia window

jesus christ, a morning check of a product I was interested in has resulted in me sending a report to the ACCC because their site is riddled with confusing black friday messaging and it defaults to you buying two items instead of one

I just wanted to buy something!

Got a bit more work done on the leg sleeve yesterday! Super exciting to start to see how all the underwater Pokemon are gonna pop when it’s done :-)

A common retort I get when arguing about the beauty lost when choosing AI over human collaboration is some version of "how is AI doing [blank] any different from a person doing [blank]?" and I think if you're asking someone to explain how a person might differ from a machine, you're beyond cooked

Holy moly, a 15 minute megamix of the Misfits’ songs from Jem and the Holograms

Their songs always were better

Made 17 full-price sales on Steam yesterday ranging from $10 to $15. Just goes to show that not everyone waits for sales. I appreciate those people.

in the days when my hair wasn’t grey and my bones weren’t brittle, we had to use rotary phones to dial our friends and if your friend had 8s and 9s in their number, it sucked because it took forever

so on friday night, for kicks, I took a dive into the wild world of card grading thanks to the help of a friend and a local really nice card shop. I’m sure they’re all worth nothing but it’s fun to give it a try and see what happens

(I did not send Meowth)

it is really concerning that people I know use ChatGPT as though it’s an acceptable thing to do
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.
