Yesterday, I got to help out at a small farm during their yearly shearing. They have about 25 alpacas and 3 Finn sheep. It was a lot of fun. Titanium says hello. #alpacas #fiberfun

Just reposting this which I think is the most gorgeous thing I have seen in my career - a critically endangered orange-bellied parrot feeding on a carpet of daisies after an ecological burn. This was the first time they’d had the chance to feed naturally in 15y and was wonderful to witness

My current hyper fixation is reading all of Jane Austen's work this year. (in between my other books as well) First book ✔️.This does differ a bit from the movies I've seen, but I understand why they made the changes. I did not have ANY sympathy for Willoughby. And Lucy? WTH? #janeausten #booktalk

Lying on a bed of moss and dandelions is the book The Silmarillion by J.R.R.Tolkein. Christopher Tolkien editted it. The cover is blue and has a scene of a bunch of women in various poses standing on a shore with a forest and mountains in the background. A number one NY times bestseller when it was originally published, athe Silmarillion is the core of J.R.R.Tolkein's imaginative writing, a work whose origins stretch back to a time before The Hobbit. Tolkien considered The Silmarillion his most important work, and, though it was published last and posthumously, this great collection of tales and legends clearly sets the stage for all his other writing. The story of the creation of the world and of the First Age, this is the ancient drama to which the characters of The Lord of the Rings look back, and in whose events some of them, such as Elrond and Galadriel, took part. The three Silmarils were jewels created by Fëanor, most gifted of the Elves. Within them was imprisoned the Light of the Two Trees of Valinor before the Trees themselves were destroyed by Morgoth, the first Dark Lord. Thereafter, the insulied Light of Valinor lived on only in the Silmarils, but they were seized by Morgoth and set in his crown, which was guarded in the impenetrable fortress of Angband in the north of Middle-Earth. The Silmarillion is the history of the rebellion of Fëanor and his kindred against the gods, their exile from Valinor and return to Middle-Earth, and their war, hopeless despite all their heroism, against the great enemy. This second edition includes a letter from J.R.R.Tolkein describing his intentions for the book, which serves as a brilliant exposition of his conception of the earlier Ages of Middle-Earth.

This is a bit of a side quest off the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series. Overall it does have the same vibe, and I'm glad I read it. My only complaint is about how a sexual relationship was portrayed. Terry Jones also wrote one of my favorite 80's movie, Labyrinth. #bookreview #booknerd
