Book blogger. Chaos bard. Probably a cryptid. Mad tea parties, weird folklore, flower language, & swords.

Too many manuscripts. A whistling kettle and a backup kettle. The graveyard. And a girl, very cozy, ensconced in the heart of it all.

Welcome to the garret. :)
A quaint manuscript. A whistling kettle. The graveyard. And a girl running away, in horror.
look, cryptids appreciate trail mix. Just bear that in mind.
also if I share my favorite snacks with you I probably love you. That's also important.
my love language is appearing, wild-eyed and tousle-haired, clothes scented with cold wind and damp earth, and shoving freshly taken blurry pictures of mushrooms in your face.

When I say I want to be like Shakespeare, I mean I want to observe wild speculation over my identity and redefine the borders of the English language.

...I do not want to write rom-coms.

Last night the foxes were howling like little yawning wolves.
Tonight I can smell the dust and wild rain.

Ah, autumn, please stay a long time. :)

I will be a BENEVOLENT monstrosity.
Get back to nature.
Wander into the old forest, let your antlers and talons grow ragged, leave your human form behind, and become the malevolent monstrosity you were always meant to be.

I saw a crow strutting down the walk like a human being.

The leaves exploded with color overnight--

--and fell in one great heap just as suddenly.

They are good to crunch, so we don't mind.

I want to have a Gothic horror pajama party.
Flowing nightgowns and house robes, candelabras, wandering the hallways and grounds of a rented old house in the countryside, gathering together by firelight and watching a film or reading aloud a thrilling classic ghost story.

but do you live close enough to the graveyard to hear the sounds of the skeleton rave?

...I do.

Halloween may be over, but when you're haunted by the ghosts of every book you've read, does spooky season ever really end?

The Lady came back to another concert, sitting on the front row reading James Patterson.

I hope I am that cool one day.
tonight’s concert was for

the baby girl who brought her soft doll and plush bunny

and the white-haired lady who sat alone at the very front with a book to keep her company and blew a kiss to the orchestra at the end

and everyone else, I guess.

I do not think it is a coincidence I notice the blend of colors in rainy streets or a pot of cocoa more keenly after I have started doing art things again.

The feeling follows me everywhere.
streaks of colored light in a rain-soaked street
like strokes of oil paint
or a world of glowing glass turned upside-down.

🧵Spotted at a Country Festival in Aotearoa New Zealand:

A worried looking small human (3?) is given a peanut butter sandwich.
Holding his sandwich protectively to his chest, he says to Mum: "I think I should hug you while I eat this."
Mum picks him up for a bear hug. (1)

Came back to the garret Friday and saw not the visiting cat, whom I've nicknamed Marmalade for her pretty golden patches, but a little red fox pattering down the same invisible path she always uses.

So now I'm just imagining the adventures of Marmalade and the Fox.

I think they must be friends.

If, however, you are approached by a “book cryptid” saying wildly enthusiastic things about your book and attempting to acquire an advanced reader copy,

you have encountered @bookmarkedone.bsky.social .

Not a scammer, but still approach at your own risk.

All opinions, after all, are my own. ;)
Shame on all these scammers jumping into authors' inboxes. "We'll market your book!" and "Would you like to be featured in our book club?" Hint: if a marketer shows up in your inbox, it is almost 100% likely they are a scammer or don't know how marketing works.
