I like to revisit my wintry adventures this time of year.
Here's another inspired by HZD, with itty bitty me on the right for scale atop the mesa, and a thin line of a road for scale deep below.
As you may imagine, a place called "Island in the Sky" is pretty chilly in late November.

alt text is important for accessibility and my plea for people who don't personally need it - aside from it being the right thing to do - is, well, you'd actually benefit from it more than you think

Folks I know it takes a little extra time and there's a lot going on, but please try to use alt text. It's hard if you're otg but otherwise just do it.

Purple Tinted Maple Bowls are now available. An experiment with aniline wood dye and wood turning. I mixed a (water) dye base and some tinted tung oil finish and then applied it carefully to specific sections to achieve this look.

Feels like society’s really broken down in the US in a way that’s deeply traumatic.
But also there are college students knocking on doors asking for shovels (they’re not well-prepared) and helping trapped motorists by shoveling and pushing out cars. Up to 24 of them now, wandering streets together

A firm favourite and another bird I've seen in real life - a kingfisher dashing along a freshwater canal delivering drinking water to central London.
It made me incredibly happy seeing this fantastic creature 🩵🤎

There’s a lot of heaviness rn. Guilt of wanting to do more, but maybe can’t. Hobbies almost feel trivial and we gaslight ourselves into thinking it’s selfish. It’s not. It’s safety in the dark for the weary to occasionally gather. Sometimes the greatest thing we can do is simply keep the lights on.
