Listening to Jurassic Park again and between chapters “Version 4.4” and “Control” I’ve realized that John Hammond is the poster child for “toxic positivity” and “toxic pet parents.” XD
a man with a beard wearing a hat and glasses is talking to another man .
Alt: An animated gif from Jurassic Park, where John Hammond, an older white man with a beard is saying, “In 48 hours I’ll be accepting your apology.”

I know Moonlight has been talked about A LOT, but I feel like it’s STILL not enough. As a queer Black man watching this film, I felt seen. I also LOVED how the film didn’t just turn into a softcore porn. That was intentional, I know.

I intend on having a GOOD fucking day. Yes in spite of this current regime, and their reign of fascist terror. I intend on getting REST. Even though the government is being ran by pedophiles, and their protectors. I intend to fucking laugh today. Even while the country I call home

worth noting that the second rich people stopped being afraid of mobs tearing them limb from limb, they stopped building libraries and opera houses and stuff and started ripping the copper wiring out of the walls of society instead

I’m torn because this does make sense, however we’ve seen their emails and their tweets, we know something important about these people

They’re fucking stupid
Everybody has it backwards.

Billionaires aren’t buying up these institutions to make money. They’re buying them to kill them. Same as the oligarchs destroying government and social programs and things like weather forecasting and regulatory bodies.

They’re creating a world they control completely

One of the fascinating things about discussing adaptations (esp. in a small social circle) is learning what makes up an in/appropriate reaction or analysis. When one should be forgiving of “changes made to suit the new format” and when the changes are “unforgivable garbage choices.”

Billionaires should not exist, but it's getting really annoying watching people cling to damn near anything to avoid addressing the twin dancing elephants of antiblackness and transphobia in the room.

I'm worried that the broader public isn't really understanding the Epstein Files. The problem isn't that everyone in the files is a secret pedophile, it's that all the people are corresponding with him because they *don't care that he's a pedophile*. It's a story of elite impunity.
You can look at the Epstein files and conclude that only bad people have billions of dollars, but I think it’s also possible that having billions of dollars cauterizes your humanity

I don’t have the bandwidth to engage with the friends & family posting their ChatGPT portraits for the latest trend. I wish I could believe the issues with gen-AI weren’t common knowledge & they just didn’t know.
I’m pretty sure they know and just don’t care and that’s so much worse to me.

That rich/famous/powerful person you had some sort of attachment to, but did horrible things, throw them away. There are hundreds or thousands of non-horrible people that can fill whatever void they leave in your life

Hear hear! The hero who punched Richard Spencer still remains anonymous, despite the endless free drinks his fame would get him. Because there is little doubt the Nazis in this country would hunt him down & kill him if they could.

Opsec saves lives.
I am hearing folks who have never been involved in putting together a protest or protecting one talking about how silly and frivolous "opsec" concerns are, and I want to say directly: you have no idea what you are talking about.

People have been killed for getting made famous by the press.

the end result of AI image, video, and audio generation is that society will no longer be able to rely on images or video or audio to represent reality. Children born today will never be able to assume that just because they have seen something on a screen that it is likely to be true.

Begging and pleading for people outside MN to listen when we say to start building these networks now because doing it quickly leads to bad opsec and while so many people are stepping up for the first time, it’s also a point on tension for many not willing to accept some forms of resistance.

February marks the 10th anniversary of Stardew Valley. I had the great pleasure of speaking to ConcernedApe ahead of the occasion about the last ten years and his plans for the future. It's a nice long one, please enjoy:
