FYI. They appear to be sending ID verification (not on app age guessing) to a 3rd party vendor. Which frankly feels worse than them doing it themselves.

You don’t need to delete it. Drain it for all it’s worth.

I actually want Discord to succeed here. I just don’t want the challenge of ‘verifying your age’ to dangle by the slender thread of use of your phone camera or send us government ID information.
Is there a better way to handle it? Maybe. But it won’t please everyone…

Lastly the friend requests all have “who discord thinks/doesn’t think you know” in their language. I do not trust the algorithm to pick my circle of friends for me, much less a teen. It should be all or nothing.

Based on their own wording, the Discord auto-age selfie will be run on your device. And if you send in a photo ID they are sending that out to a (presumably external) vendor.
