FC5 billed itself as about a separatist cult with nationalist undertones, but the plot seemed to carefully avoid any of the controversy that could arise from that setup. Not a comment on the quality of the game, I quite liked it, but it could have been more politically interesting (to me anyway)

This is actually extremely common, even outside of AI. It always puzzles me when people bring up stuff about AI like it's something new or novel or suspicious? They are taking partial equity as part of what they receive for their goods or services.
