I mean, the line between baseless copium and actual hope is fuzzy, but this is a delightful thought to have none the less.
PUNCHBOWL: “.. GOP members messaged us over the weekend saying that they, too, are considering retiring in the middle of the term. Here’s one particularly exercised senior House Republican:

I mean I CHOSE being a radio producer because audio production is an incredible creative pursuit. I became a programmer because people paid me some money to do it and I just kept not stopping. I became this kind of programmer because I would do the work nobody else wanted to.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

Sumo nerd thoughts: Tamawashi doesn't look like a super strong wrestler but he can be surprisingly powerful, he will sometimes just take a big hand and press his opponent into the dirt.

He reminds me of famous internet cat Grandpa Mason and his big kitten-flattening paw.

Being into rubiks cubes is weird. The first time you solve one you feel like an entire genius. And then you practice and learn a bit and you can eventually solve one in 90 seconds pretty reliably and know that's not even anything worth bragging about.

AI code reviews run real hot and cold. Some days they suggest refactors that identify deep codebase patterns and are terrific, and some days they say doTheThing() should be recoded to protect against cases where you don't do the thing and I just want to cry.

Just learned that Rubik is coming out with a $400 electric puzzle cube that runs apps. the concept is neat but I am really failing to see who this is for.

Car people are funny. They start as children fighting over whether the porche picante or the lambo tetrazini is better, but as adults they get together and are like "if you wash a 1992 jetta every day for 30 years it'll last for 5million miles, but only the green ones"

Send me the first book I already bought and paid for last year first!
You might be overthinking it! We've got less than a week left for you to pre-order your Deluxe Edition of @jacobgeller.com's second project with LIC HQ.

Jacob returns to his extensive archive of video essays to obsessively re-examine his past work 🧠

Every Sunday morning for more than 40 years, Larry Ferrari would play play the corniest, most incredible music and guest local and national performers and sell us organs and still give you plenty of time to go to church.

Whoa. I bought a printer, attached it to my network, put in the toner, added paper, and it printed.

I'm pretty sure it's phoning home with my data, but I'm working on that.

I know we're all ready to celebrate Cuomo moving to Florida, but we all need to be better people and stop celebrating when disasters pass through red states.

Just got served an add for Goulet Pens. The fact that they've had to start paying for advertising over the last year or two is remarkable, but the wild part now they're advertising themselves as a place to buy affordable fountain pens.

The boycott has had an effect, you guys.

It's when.

The problem with good accessibility and good UX is that, when it works, it *just works* and becomes basically invisible to the user. This is the ideal state, obviously, but this leads to a big problem in that when users do hit friction and problems with interfaces, they can't 1/2

Not to get political but has anyone else noticed that the budget for the white House Nazi ballroom keeps going up the more we talk about it? I think it started at 200 or 220, then 230, then 250, just saw someone describe it as 300 million.

Cat growth spurts are weird. You can tell they're doing one because it seem to be their head is the last to catch up, so you you notice one day "why is your head so tiny?!" And they just stay that way for a while.
Today is Kelpie's third birthday. She is more than halfway to her final size, and will probably not experience any more major growth spurts. (She's so weird, hormonally, that she'll probably get six inches longer tomorrow just because I typed this.)
