Now S.F. officials are scrambling to push back on Trump threatening to do the same, realizing that reaping is not as fun as sowing and that these narratives they pushed are actually really bad for them.

2023 Newsom and co helped set up the normalization of deploying the National guard to cities to “fight crime” or whatever. This time it was a gimmick and it was only a handful of support, but he knew the headlines would be “Newsom Deploys National Gaurd to S.F. with backing of Mayor and DA”

That’s because Porter has completely ditched populist points and is settling in as a Newsom-lite with no real structural change proposals. Yee has been too tight with established powers and has defended oil $$ at CADEM and CALPERS.

As an orphan progressive looking for a candidate in this Governor’s race, I think @tonythurmond.bsky.social is the best candidate posed to take the left lane if he wanted to adopt populist Bernie/Zohran style politics. I don’t really see the same opportunity for other candidates.

Its 9am, time to call CA Gov to sign bills. 916-445-2841 or write gov.ca.gov/contact Yesterday a misleading article went around suggesting he had rejected bills, truth is he hasn't acted on them yet.

Ask him to sign all LGBTQ rights bills and housing bill SB79 (cause we need places to live also!)

Last Rules, Chair Jenkins pulled reappointments of Police Commission Chair & an alternate from agenda claiming there were concerns about appts and directing SP to review. But it doesn't seem like he alone had that power, & so CAO brought it right back w/no intervening SP mtg

San Francisco has lost its damn mind. We can absolutely have sober housing, but not at the expense of real, science-based solutions to drug addiction and homelessness which are both a result from our lack of investment into universal housing and public health.

What PSH Tenants want is for the integrity of Housing First to be upheld. Sober housing is a good idea, but only if it’s a choice. Dorsey’s primary concern is creating a new funding category so that Salvation Army, who refuses to submit to Medicaid standards, can get funded.

EBRHA has one of the worst performances of an Oakland contactor I've ever seen in contract to rep landlords in RAP processes. They helped only a dozen or so in a substantive way, refused to track ethnicity demographics, & 3/4 of clients weren't Oakland residents.
