The goal is to make sure kids only ever know about the things that will make them into people the guys in charge want them to be, and that sucks.

My inlaws called us “fanatics” yesterday when we turned down an invitation to a birthday party.

“Someday we hope you can make us understand why you are so scared of Covid that you won’t participate in anything.”

We’ve only been trying for 6 years.

They’re willfully deaf.

Medical research continues to advance, to affirm theories of Covid's mechanisms and make new findings. Covid continues to kill and disable. In the UK, total failure to control its spread continues as a policy, by a government that has chosen to sacrifice people on the altar of "Never mention Covid".

I promise you, Long COVID absolutely does not care if you’re in peak physical form and health.

If you think masking is annoying, try choosing whether to make dinner or shower today, because you don’t have enough energy to do both.

Middle-aged accountant or ultramarathoner, your odds are the same.
If the days of masking are behind you, the days of getting long covid or other complications are lit up like Las Vegas neon in front of you.

For most people, the pandemic days of masking are behind us. In certain corners of the Winter Olympics, though, things still look a lot like they did in Covid times. Some athletes are taking extreme measures to stay healthy. n.pr/4akK70l

Something has definitely happened in the tech space where all of these companies have decided people will put up with literally anything because these services are "essential." There's an odd arrogance accompanying "here is our new heinous policy you'll agree to because you can't live without us."

They all blame stress whenever the subject of absenteeism is raised. 🙄

The funny thing is that HR used to require us to speak to staff members about their sick days if they exceeded 3 per quarter, but they no longer automatically prompt us to have these talks, so we all stopped holding them.

More sick notes today.

Staff who were sick last week still aren’t back to work.

4 of my team have been off sick on multiple occasions since 1 December.

We are averaging 23 sick days per year compared with 4 in 2019.

Meanwhile, HR is encouraging in-office time to foster “team cohesiveness”.

And a big part of convincing us it is harmless is justifying that it is actually for our safety and that anyone questioning that is a paranoid conspiracy-theory loon. But as soon as it is put to the test, you can see what has been claimed for why these things are everywhere, simply don't hold water.

The neat trick of Western capitalist liberal democracy is it makes people so comfortable+ relaxed, to the point they don't think they are being watched at all, all the while slowly mass surveillance infrastructure has been developed to watch us without us noticing or accepting it is harmless.

Long COVID sucks.
If you don’t get COVID you can’t get long COVID.
So don’t get COVID.
Get vaccinated.
Wear an N95.
Clean the air we all breathe.
