Words to live by for those of us building machines:

“We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery, we need humanity; more than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.”

If you're a US citizen and have issues with the way the government is conducting itself *gestures wildly*, a great place to start is calling or emailing your representatives.

democracy.io is a great way to do that quickly and conveniently.

Let them know you're not okay with the status quo.

Lazy batsignal Q - where is ATProto but for marketplaces? Think FB marketplace, buy nothing, Craigslist, Etsy. I’m a novice here, but it seems like it would’ve very doable.

cc @jessmart.in @danabra.mov @bmann.ca or anyone who might know. Bonus points for a list of other AT systems eg for elections.

Mix well on a VPS or home server. Add an olive. Enjoy some Christmas cheer while ditching Spotify.

Higher quality streaming, no ads, and it just works.

Evidence-based gun policies like child-access laws save lives.

With enough popular support, we can end #GunViolence. Impossible? Zero car-related fatalities sounds impossible too, but Helsinki recently did the impossible. Maybe we can do impossible things too.

What if all the Airtags in the world could talk to each other, and if they could relay encrypted text messages as part of a mesh network?

That's basically what @meshtastic.org but instead of proprietary Apple products it's open source and hackable hardware. Some are about as much $$$ as an Airtag.

One of my favorite bits of culture is this primer on trust: How it's built, how it falls apart, and how we can work to repair trust.

If you are the type to host your own web apps, docs.paperless-ngx.com is fantastic. Index all the random PDFs, receipts, mail, whatever you get so you can grab what you need, when you need it. Run it on a Synology or something, you won't regret it.
