That's a crowded field too, even if you narrow it down to "Bawdy 70s Comedies".

I forget if it was some fantasy fanfic thing, or an Etruscan script on a page about the development of writing. But it definitely wasn't what Roman soldiers were writing home from Hadrian's Wall using

It was bad enough when our kid's primary teacher used to put [topic] into google image search and uncritically present thr top result as fact.

They did a whole session and presentation at parents evening where kids wrote their name using the weird runic "Roman Alphabet" they'd found.

Didn't they officially declare "Prosperity Theology" a heresy a while back?

Because if they had an email address (that they gave out), people would email them. The entire goal of any GP surgery admin team is to erect as many barriers as possible between patients and doctors...

Incidentally, one of the descendents of the architects was a racing driver in the 1990s...

It's a bit of a turnaround from his days playing in goal for Ipswich, but nice to see people branching out

Oh do pay attention Bond. Now, this might look like a perfectly normal ball point pen, but by manipulating these controls it can write in FOUR different colours.

Seems like the natural endpoint of the general "STEM über alles" tenor of education policy over the last couple of decades.

Every age has its cathedral to what society values - the Victorians build glorious railway stations and industrial buildings like Salt''s Mill; for the 20th century it was great stadiums like the Maracana or Old Wembley. Now it's anonymous hidden bunkers that are kept very secret...

Please, just stop sending me AI videos of Dad. Stop believing I wanna see it or that I'll understand, I don't and I won't. If you're just trying to troll me, I've seen way worse, i'll restrict and move on. But please, if you've got any decency, just stop doing this to him and to me, to everyone even, full stop. It's dumb, it's a waste of time and energy, and believe me, it's NOT what he'd want.
To watch the legacies of real people be condensed down to 'this vaguely looks and sounds like them so that's enough,
, just so
other people can churn out horrible TikTok slop puppeteering them is maddening. You're not making art, you're making disgusting, over-processed hotdogs out of the lives of human beings, out of the history of art and music, and then shoving them down someone else's throat hoping they'll give you a little thumbs up and like it.
Gross. And for the love of EVERYTHING, stop calling it 'the future. Al is just badly recycling and regurgitating the past to be reconsumed. You are taking in the Human Centipede of content, and from the very very end of the line, all while the folks at the front laugh and laugh, consume and consume.

Realised that I’m now treating funny viral videos in the same way footballers celebrate goals —

1) initial joy,
2 sudden panic it might be AI/offside
3) lengthy investigation as joy saps away
4) conclusion, joy modulated through fatigue if proven legit/onside, but angry and gutted if AI/offside

(10 paragraphs in, it turns out they ran it through spellcheck)

As I think a few people have pointed out in the replies to that, it doesn't seem entirely coincidental that the Grauniad has recently "gone into partnership" with OpenAi and is suddenly spitting out loads of stories like this.
