Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.
The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.

Despite what the Senate Majority Whip says in this interview, my 340B drug pricing bill did pass the House. It took effect Oct 1 and is already helping our hospitals and health centers! As you can see, it was award-winning legislation!

This is important. Food banks can bulk buy, and stretch that money further than you can. They also know what they actually need. Money is better!
I saw advice to buy extra cans of food when you’re at the grocery store to donate to the food bank.
I want to politely nudge you to give the money directly to food banks (or to mutual aid groups if you know of any).

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!
