I received an email from Octopus today saying they're hiking their time-of-use tariff rates, in part, because consumers were too good at shifting their use to cheap periods, so they were losing money. This tells you how powerful price signals are in driving efficient use of the power system.

The voting age will be lowered to 16 in England and Northern Ireland by the next general election in a major change of the democratic system.

It's not giving away the islands that bothers me, it's about paying for it. My entire life I've been told "um...we don't have enough money for nice things, sorry" and suddenly there's £30bn for a random African country to abolish their income tax.
Remember to email your Labour MP and ask them to explain why they cut PIP payments "because we can't afford it" but then simultaneously agreed to give £101 million per year to Mauritius in exchange for literally nothing.

Interesting that the US minimum wage is so low now that it has effectively been abolished, only 0.1% of the workforce are getting paid as little as that.
For comparison 5% of the UK workforce is on our minimum wage of £12.21/hr.
