When my SO was in grad school and later his sister both had stories of meeting with a statistics grad to go over the stats they’d developed for their theses. Both got shaking heads. Both passed though. Presumably because neither was a statistics grad student.
A now-friend who moved away from Toronto before I met her married someone who told her that everyone in Toronto knows each other somehow. Sure enough when we first met and got discussing Toronto it turned out that we knew some of the same people.
