I am so honored. This story was a blast to write. "The Waitress" is part of Kandisha Press's #WomenInHorror anthology, Pretend You Don't See Her.
If you're an #HWA member, I sent out a mailer to read it for free because it's eligible for the Bram Stoker Award.

So I am going to say something about romance as a genre.

A lot of people think that romance is ignorable because <insert thing they think about romance> and romance authors don't count because <insert thing they think about romance>.

This thread is not about whether you have to like romance.

And another thing: anyone willing to allow their grievances to be weaponized by the fascists in this of all moments is decidedly not someone to be taken at face value.

Good ones for Little Brooklyn: Batman Returns and Jurassic Park. And Mom walking us out of Powder to sneak us into The Good Son instead.
Bad one for Little Brooklyn: The Super Mario Bros movie.

Good for grown Brooklyn: Seeing JAWS for the 1st time in theaters AND in 3D! Same with NOES & Hellraiser.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

Weird Al joining a cover of Rage Against the Machine's "Killing in the Name" was not on my 2025 Bingo card, but it is soooo good.

The latest ai-generated marking email I got put in a direct quote from To Wed a Warrior, which isn't out until Friday and that quote IS not in the final draft I uploaded to retailers. That means the ai was able to scrape the placeholder file I had on KDP.
I am so sickened and creeped out right now.

My son and I are going to see Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair.

Yeah, Tarantino's insufferable, but I loved Volumes 1 and 2 and My son was too young to see either on the big screen. Plus this cut has more blood and gore for me and more anime for him!

My 30th novel is compete.
To Wed a Warrior is a standalone romantasy set in the Brides of Prophecy universe in the Westeros-esque country of Wurrakia.
The hero and heroine are homages to Sansa Stark and Sandor Clegane. #Romantasy #GameOfThrones #SanSan #Romancelandia #BookSky #DecemberReads

Movie you've watched more than six time with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (either War or Trek), LOTR, or Marvel.

I had a Bookbub Featured Deal on Wednesday, but Apple and B&N and Kobo put it back to full price so those didn't go out in the email. The price is fixed and it's updated on the site now.
This is supposed to fund the audiobook for book 3 www.bookbub.com/books/bite-m...

I had a Bookbub featured deal for my regency vampire romance, Bite Me, Your Grace. And for some reason, Apple, B&N, and Kobo had brought the book back from 99 cents to full price.

I am physically ill over this fuckup.

Gonna paint a big target on myself for naming Trapped. I really do think it's the funniest unintentional comedy we've gotten in years. The premise is ridiculous, the villain is so Wile E. Coyote, the "twists" over the top, and the obvious 2 hour long promo for director's daughter is HILARIOUS.
Defend a terrible film by picking something from it that saves it.

As an author who writes both, I am living for this one good thing happening these days.
horror is definitely on the heels of romance. more and more horror specialty shops are popping up and sections of bookstores (Barnes and Noble especially) are dedicated to and expanding in horror.
seriously, it appears that while basically nobody is reading fiction anymore when it comes to 90% of genres of literature, a lot of very horny people must be spending a lot of money on romance novels

This is one of the things that's often missing from online discussions of anti-capitalist theory. The question that actually determines our socioeconomic status and fate is this:

Do you live off what you're paid for your own labor, or off the profits you draw from the labor of others?
I can’t believe you idiots are still arguing with me about this. Idc what your job is paying you now, you still have to labor for your money. You’re working class.

All it takes is an unfortunate accident or illness for you to be in the poor house. Medical debt and fallout would cripple you. Stfu.
All of you are poor. These hypothetical poor people everyone is discussing are us. We’re poor. Idc if you make 6 figures or not. You’re poor too.
