Not sure if this counts but Kingdom Hearts 1 got me to finally play Final Fantasy games. I didn't like the turn-based combat of FF games initially, but KH was a perfect mix of action & movies, which got me to try it.

I decided to give FF games a shot again, & became a fan of them after KH1.
