As a token of remembrance of yesterday's @alzassociation.bsky.social Walk to End Alzheimer's in OKC, I made this short video to document the event. A sincere THANK YOU goes to all who supported the cause. It was the honor of my lifetime to captain a Team for this year's Walk. Enjoy!

The @nws.noaa.gov ventures into AI weather models, with data now available for those who wish to utilize and/or assess. Others are being explored (h/t @clarkevanswx.bsky.social) as well!

All models are inherently “wrong” to some degree from the very beginning, and this model error grows substantially with longer lead times. It is therefore not good practice to post long-range forecasts and take them for gospel at face value because they will more likely than not fail to verify.
There is a reason why most (unfortunately I can’t say all) #meteorologists don’t show extended range ensemble forecasts for a reason. Even if a disclaimer like “this is not a forecast” is given, the forecast is still being shown and could be misinterpreted as such. 😒

I replaced my worn-down Goodyear tires back in September with a set of Michelin CrossClimate 2s. We’ve been parched for rain in OK for a solid chunk of that time, so they haven’t really seen wet weather conditions to this point… until this morning.

Worth the wait!

Someone probably woke up and said, “you know, I can see the good side to these. Maybe everyone should just be less offended…”

Not surprised… But my goodness, abhorrent doesn’t begin to describe this.

Ahh, hail…

Ok then.

Prior to the shutdown, we had headshots redone for the CIWRO staff page. Before the actual shots, we could goof around with our name card, and apparently this won me a share of the “Best Mugshot Award”.

Definitely getting “exceeds expectations” on my annual performance review with that…

That’s another DUB for the @denver-broncos.bsky.social! And against KC too 😄

Well alrighty then…

People need to realize that just because the gov’t reopens doesn’t mean that everything and everyone affected goes back to suddenly being all “hunky dory”. Exempted employees are going to still be tired, backpay is still going to take a while, productivity will take time to recover. A ripple effect.

A bit faint, but definitely shades of pink in the sky tonight in central OK (probably a bit brighter with an actual camera)

It is an absolute shame to see one of the most respected atmospheric science programs in the U.S. get eliminated in the UNL budget cuts. The proposed "savings" by gutting the program won't match the damage of the brain drain of knowledge for NE. The faculty and students deserve better than this.
They are really planning to go through with these cuts at Nebraska, despite recommendations not to. Unbelievable.

If you want to hire highly qualified, very successful earth and atmospheric sciences faculty in teaching and research, quite a few are probably looking for jobs for next year.

This shutdown is abhorrent by any stretch of the imagination. We all collectively deserve so much better, especially those being severely impacted by this nonsense.

But “carrot and stick” to the nth degree is going to bite the Dems so hard on these proposed terms, and it’ll be deserved.

Nothing quite like airing out your apartment on a cool and windy afternoon and then the magical smell of skunk begins filtering in from outside. Woohoo! 😷🤢

That wasn’t pretty. BUT…

8-2 ✅

Broncos v. Raiders… At least there was a FG for the 10-7 lead. But for a 7-2 team, this is really ugly…
