Was there any coverage of the recent record warmth in both the Arctic and Antarctic? Multiple global datasets now confirm these records, and I think it's really quite striking.

Here's some very quick plots showing NOAAGlobalTempv6 data from October too. And see my earlier posts.

YouTube surreptitiously deleted all these videos in early October by wiping the accounts that posted them from its website, along with their channels’ archives. The accounts belonged to three prominent Palestinian human rights groups

Scores of 'tradwife' influencers on platforms like TikTok are convincing young women that what men want is a docile helpmeet with anachronistic ideas about gender roles, when what men actually want is Bruce Dern's courdoury jumpsuit from 'Silent Running'

Exactly this. This is both an act of deliberate cruelty towards a marginalised, vulnerable community and a trial balloon to see how far they can push, and how fast.
(Going by the last two years and the pace and volume of erosion, and active targeting of vulnerable people - very far, and very fast.)

There are a million children in Aotearoa, about 700 of them have been prescribed puberty blockers (that's 0.07%)

Medication decisions should be decided by the child, their caregivers, and the relevant health professionals, not a party relying on imported culture wars to stay in power

Tyler West, @notesnowhere.bsky.social recently died at the young age of 30. I'm lucky to have known him.

His contributions to historical scholarship will remain important

Early advice from officials that recommended New Zealand recognise Palestine as a state was ultimately ignored by the Government.

Why hasn’t Luxon gone to COP 30?

Oh..

New Zealand’s adoption of a 'no additional warming' target, rather than pursuing more ambitious reductions, was "an embarrassing and humiliating capture by industry". Says a climate expert at #COP30 in Brazil.

I went and saw 'Predator: Badlands' the "Yautja are people too" entry in the franchise

(I joke, but it is interesting to see another example of sci-fi/fantasy grabbling with the modern understanding that assigning inherent negative traits to a 'race' is kinda iffy even in fiction)
