The late Georgina Beyer would fight this BS tooth and nail. Her memory deserves better, as do the trans, queer, and Indigenous youths directly impacted by it. Healthcare is a human right
Labour is now the only Opposition party who has not put out an official press release denouncing the NZ government’s restrictions to healthcare access for trans youth and affirming their strong support for the trans, takatāpui and rainbow communities.

There is tremendous power and integrity in understanding how much there is to lose, and, with the platform and capacity you have, voicing strong dissent.
Great to see this from RANZCOG.

I personally think NZ First has gone so far off the rails this time, that Labour partnering with them now would be morally repugnant.
November 30, 2025 at 7:26 PM
The thought of Labour willingly partnering with NZ First, a party that consistently posts vile thoughts (and progresses vile policy) targeting the trans community, is abysmal.
It’s also another argument for voting NZ Greens, who does not stay silent on trans rights.
Back vocal support - not silence.

This article talks about Labour deciding which voter bases to “target” which perfectly encapsulates why Labour always makes me feel like a box to tick as a rainbow voter.

“Diversity is having a seat at the table, inclusion is having a voice, and belonging is having that voice heard.” - Liz Fosslien
Labour wants its 2020 mojo back – can it convince voters it still has the recipe?
Labour's party-heavy weekend conference revealed big dreams, and big gaps in its voter base.

“I want us to remember that our job is not just to oppose – it is to aspire and inspire.”

Reflecting that the list of policy many might call aspirational or inspiring is desperately needed, bare minimum policy, and we need leadership to call it that.

Really.. 'too much ,too fast' was that really the last labour government's problem.

I remember it was more a self imposed fiscal cap & endless centrist incrementalism even before covid hit... it took them until their 6th year to bring in the fair pay act. #nzpol

Expect more from our institutions, including honesty and transparency.
Expect more from our democracy, with real checks and balances.
