Haha I’ve started working on that! Just design work, planning out the details of how it would work. MLS for E2EE, ATProto for identity, communities centralized on single servers instead of Matrix’s federated model, which eliminates a lot of complexity and UX issues.

yeah, cutting off mobile and internet connectivity is now one of the very first moves that invading forces often make when they take over a city. (the invading forces then rely upon Starlink for their own purposes).

we recently saw the RSF do exactly this in El Fasher in Sudan.
If a Second American Civil War ever breaks out, people will be stunned by how fragile the internet can be. All the surveillance tech in the world won't help you if the power goes out, and the more concentrated digital infrastructure becomes, the more vulnerable it gets.

Context repositories are our biggest innovation since sleeptime compute.

Letta Code memory is now git-backed. Any number of agents can swarm over things to learn, remember, and store them in a cohesive format. Massively parallel memory management with standard conflict resolution.

Worth pointing out that facial scans and ID scans are two separate things.

Accuracy matters. Discord didn’t lie but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a horseshit move on their part
Discord lied.

they’re now sending scanned IDs to persona, a third party company.

“facial scans will never leave your device” -discord lmao.

Bluesky now spreading germs
we just rolled out an experimental integration with @germnetwork.com, an E2E encrypted chat app that integrates with atproto.

Germ users can add a button to their profile so others can message them from Bluesky.

we're exploring ways to connect your profile with other apps in the Atmosphere.

In addition to my coverage of the Ken Starr - Epstein relationship, here is a round-up I did of the Texans who were in Epstein's orbit. Like everywhere else, they are elites: businessmen, rich doctors, PR people, academics: www.chron.com/culture/arti...
When Jeffrey Epstein needed help, he turned to these Texas elites
DOJ-released documents highlight Epstein's close ties to powerful and famous Texans.

Bombs hot enough to cause all the water in your body to instantly boil. Targeted at children in refugee camps and schools. Both political parties in the US are funding this. Tragedy beyond tragedy
US-supplied internationally prohibited thermal & thermobaric munitions burning at 3,500C have left no trace of nearly 3,000 Palestinians, @aljazeera.com reveals. “We found nothing of Saad. Not even a body to bury. That was the hardest part,” says one mother. www.aljazeera.com/features/202...
Israel used weapons in Gaza that made thousands of Palestinians evaporate
US-made thermal weapons burning at 3,500C caused 2,842 people to "evaporate" in Gaza, Al Jazeera investigation finds.

just added mermaid.js support to dodeca which involved teaching the HTML diff about "opaque nodes" (rendered by JS) so it could simply call the JS renderer again with the new content instead of a flash-of-unrendered-content 😎

If you've not yet seen the scale of this grotesque overreach all around the country, take a look at the known #Flock / #ALPR camera locations on deflock.me/map
In United States v. Jones (2012) SCOTUS held that installing a GPS tracker to a car constitutes a search under the Fourth Amendment and thus requires a warrant.

So how is arbitrary collection/retention of our movements via these extremely dense #ALPR dragnets functionally any different?

Another day, another #ALPR abuse story!

> issuing a BOLO on someone for putting up posters is "both a rejection of the First Amendment, and a really ridiculous misuse of resources."

Mass #surveillance infrastructure is a huge problem. Once established, it *will* be repeatedly abused.

Re license plate reader retention times: this is basic surveillance state stuff. The police want knowledge of your whereabouts in your private vehicle for 3 weeks (as suggested in the WA ALPR bill) just in case you do something wrong later, or know someone else who might do something wrong.

city pays #Flock or another #ALPR company $$$ and they get #Sauron’s all seeing eye on their constituents ☺️ 🫠
If your city is suspending or cancelling #Flock, remember that "switching to another #ALPR vendor" is NOT the solution.

Dragnet bulk data collection is the core problem. #Flock is just one particularly egregious example.

Mass #surveillance does not make any of us safer! 🚫
