the song "shawty got moves" by Get Cool, featured on Step Up 3D, appears to only be available on youtube (uploaded by an unofficial source.) and yet. it's a popular line dancing song that a lot of bars play regularly. are they all playing from youtube? has every bar pirated it? what happened??

my friend got me and michael switch gift cards for christmas. today, I went to finally input mine into the switch to pick up Big Hops. while I'm typing it in, Michael goes -- "wait you're not getting big hops are you? i was going to use my gift card to get big hops." basically gift of the magi

[I know this sounds like an annoying take voice but I mean it] ttrpg designers, you should look at the tomodachi life nintendo direct as a really good example of how to build your game's storytelling strengths into its marketing

pendragon last night, in a whole 4-hour session we made it through less than 1 page of the tutorial adventure (we started part 2) because an egregious slight by a visiting knight dominoed into our GM improvising an entire mini-tournament for us. it was awesome

"a major blow to prosecutors" such a wild framing. what a weird way to choose to write this. "won't someone empathize with the prosecutors?"
A New York federal judge dismissed murder and weapons charges against alleged UnitedHealthcare CEO killer Luigi Mangione, a major blow to prosecutors that means Mangione no longer faces a possible death penalty if convicted reut.rs/45Fin56

oh yeah? this is a PR crisis? the PR is cringe? that's what's going on here? the situation is that the PR is cringe? we're asking WTF they're doing (from a PR perspective) because so far it's been cringe? "what happened" is shaping up to be crisis-level cringe? i feel like my brain is on fire
“Straight cringe” and it’s about the state smearing a murdered person as a terrorist.

This woman is a parody of Beltway journalists.

I think one of the single most impactful goals we should aspire to is rebuilding generalized public awareness of the nuts and bolts of civic operation. So many of our problems are downstream of people not understanding the work that undergirds their day-to-day experience of living in a society.
One of the hardest things to do is bring campaign-level communications to the work of governance, and snowstorms are notoriously one of the biggest litmus tests that less-engaged voters use to judge mayoral administrations. This is an excellent way to communicate.

i know it makes me naive but i am always surprised at how willing people are to lie like this. It's so difficult for me to imagine deciding to forgo any sense of morality. I don't think I could ever decide the world only exists to be exploited! I don't think I could shake off my care for people!
Putin pioneered this. No opposition is legitimate. Regular, decent, “ordinary” people cannot possibly be against us because only we represent “the real people.”

Tell-tale sign of authoritarianism.
