Yesterday I voted YES on three important appropriations bills that preserve the role that science plays in moving our nation forward.

But we have more work to do to lower costs in America.

I see the President released a one-page health care framework today. Mr. President, today is the end of open enrollment. 80,000 people in Washington state are at risk of losing their health insurance. We need more than a one-page plan.

Today on National #KoreanAmericanDay, we honor the enduring mark Korean Americans have left on our culture & politics. I join in celebrating the Korean American community’s many contributions which make WA a better place to live, work, & raise a family.

President Trump promised to lower prices on day one. He has not. In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said today that consumer prices are 2.7 percent higher than a year ago. The price of groceries are up 2.4 percent and electricity prices are up by 6.7 percent. (1/2)
Breaking news: Inflation remained elevated in December, closing out a year of stubbornly high prices complicated by tariffs and a government shutdown.
Price growth held firm in December, capping a year of persistent inflation
Overall, prices were 2.7 percent higher than they were a year ago, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The Roadless Rule -- which limits clear-cutting and roadbuilding in America’s last remaining pristine forests -- turns 25 today! I've fought for the Rule since 2001 because Washingtonians depend on our 2 million acres to safeguard clean drinking water sources and our $25+billion outdoor rec economy.

Voting by mail is safe, trackable, and encourages high turnout. Washington helped pioneer vote-by-mail, and our voters have used it to participate in our democracy for years. I hope this ruling will stop those who would undermine our elections or make it harder to vote.

The House did the right thing by voting to renew health care tax credits and enable tens of thousands of Washingtonians to afford health insurance in 2026. (1/3)
Breaking news: More than a dozen House Republicans joined every Democrat to pass a bill extending enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies for three years — the sharpest GOP break with party leadership yet.
House passes bill extending health care subsidies, bucking GOP leaders
Prospects for passage in the Senate are unclear. The enhanced subsidies expired at the end of 2025, driving costs up for millions.

After December's atmospheric river & flooding, WA was hit with 73 landslides.

I introduced the National Landslide Preparedness Act & helped it pass the Senate this week. Supporting early warning systems, risk mapping, & real time information will keep communities safe.

Western Washington is in for a final push of an atmospheric river Thursday evening, but the landslide risk will continue for days if not longer.

President Trump's actions in Venezuela have set a dangerous precedent. It's certainly not worth U.S. blood to commandeer oil that is not going to lower prices at the pump. My hope is Republicans will continue to join Democrats in reasserting the role of Congress.

The shooting in Minneapolis today by an ICE agent is deeply disturbing. We cannot have federal agents killing people in our neighborhoods. There must be a full investigation and accountability.

Five years ago today, democracy prevailed in the face of violence. Brave Americans put their safety on the line so that Congress could respect the will of the American people and uphold the rule of law.

President Trump’s actions today with Venezuela raise more questions than answers. Is America going to be involved in running and stabilizing Venezuela? Today's actions raise many questions about the stability of the region and our policy towards South America.

Americans are paying more than almost any other country for wireless. Consolidation and reduced competition are driving up costs.

The FCC is not focused enough on affordability.

I've had hospitals tell me that one uninsured person can cost millions of dollars by just constantly coming to the hospital. So when Republicans take away health insurance for 15M Americans, they are increasing costs for everyone.

We need to keep people covered to help reduce costs for everyone.

The world should condemn the senseless and horrific attack at a Hanukkah celebration in Australia. Our world should respect all religions. Jewish people should feel safe in their own communities every single day, but especially as they celebrate their holidays.

Today I toured flooding damage in Snohomish County. We're hearing that everybody worked together, first in the preparation and planning, and then in the execution and cooperation. Give the community the tools, and the community will respond.

Fast, traffic-free, affordable transportation infrastructure is going to pay dividends for generations to come.

We fought for over $1 billion in federal investment in this project – and despite the first Trump administration’s obstruction, we got it done.
