ok but we only see Stede with glasses in the pilot but imagine they settle at their inn and Ed starts getting Stede books and gets sad when Stede never reads & when he asks Stede's like ‘I can't read them bc I don't have my glasses anymore’ and Ed remembers he tossed them in the sea with the books
