New social media site, same old garbage
Here in Western WA, it's the Big Dark, when the seasons, time change, and weather conspire to make things especially dreary. I get some degree of S.A.D. as well. But recently I've taken to looking at my officemate, Kasha, and thinking, he's handling it well, I can too.

Uninstall Grammarly NOW. They've partnered with an AI company and actively scrape your writing to train its models.
HEAD'S UP FELLOW #CREATIVES!
If you haven't heard, #Grammarly is changing...and one change that doesn't pass the smell test is the incorporation of the ocean-boiling plagiarism machine that is #AI. 😒
I'm ditching Grammarly TONIGHT. #Writing #Writers #NoAI

Hmm, I just ran a prompt in Claude and reflexively prepended "please". The Future is weird, and living in it is also weird.

If you take away just one single thing from all the developments that have happened today, let it be this: I just ate too much pepperoni pizza, because pepperoni is really good, and I encourage all of you to do likewise.

Seattle Area Folks: A coworker needs to rehome a brother/sister pair of cats, both 5 yrs old. If anyone has room in their home, their heart, and their litter box, HMU.

@magpie.tips Uh, why are the runners wearing rigid mitts on one hand? I don't recall seeing that before.

Back in the woodworking workshop for the first time in a long time. Current status: I don't have a french curve, so I'm using a bandsaw blade. Live dangerously, kids.

@magpie.tips Since I can't keep track of players' names, I have to imagine you randomly switching which hat you're wearing whenever you post.

RIP Jack DeJohnette. If you want some choice examples of his goodness, I recommend:
- Michael Brecker, Tales From The Hudson
- Freddie Hubbard, Straight Life
- Miles Davis, Big Fun

@prisonculture.bsky.social Thank you for your recent posts (PSA's?) about healthcare-related accounts. It's so easy to sign up for one, and then simply let the money rot and disappear. <:(

In my ongoing reading about Appalachia and the mountain South, it keeps coming up, over and over, that few single events have impacted the region quite as much as the release of the movie Deliverance.

TODAY is the first day of open enrollment in Idaho. That means people need to start choosing their health care plans RIGHT NOW.

One Idahoan who's paying $367/month will be paying a WHOPPING $2,232/month without the ACA tax credits.

We have to save the ACA tax credits.

@miraphorism.bsky.social I spaced that this might be up (or tangent to) one of your alleys. It's not as dense as it could be, but it's deffo high-grade concentrated Humanities wankery, and I kinda miss that from college.
@1snugthejoiner.bsky.social Our drive through KY a couple years back spurred me to do some reading, including this. He mentions chestnut blight as a substantial blow to self-sufficiency for a lot of rural folks. Haven't finished it yet but he's tugging on a variety of interesting threads.
