It’s been a few days since Andi and I spoke at Sawyer’s celebration of life. It was really, really special—as off-beat and delightfully weird as he was. Our mom (who’s a t-shirt screenprinter) recreated our Disneyland shirts for the event, and those shirts are now one of my favorite things ever.

He died at noon today. Some messaging fell through, and we never got the info about the honor walk, but we will be attending the funeral. I finally reached out to his mom just to say I loved her.

God, this is awful.
I found out a really close family friend — someone who was like a brother to my sister and I growing up — had a heart attack and isn’t going to live. I’m devastated. He’s only 26. It’s so deeply unfair.

GOOD NEWS! A new cancer vaccine has shown progress in triggering POWERFUL and LASTING immune responses in patients with pancreatic AND colorectal cancer. The vaccine, known as ELI-002 2P, targets mutant KRAS proteins AND had a huge impact on PREVENTING or DELAYING cancer recurrence in patients.

I think this moment of people feeling nervous about something and doing it anyway could prove quite liberating and profound
My mother-in-law was nervous about wearing her #NoKings gear to the airport for her flight this morning, but she got *lots* of compliments. Even the TSA agent told her, "I like your shirt."

My school librarian is starting up a book club for teachers and staff, which is really cool. BUT our first book takes place in a dystopia, and while it’s good, it’s also depressing to read when we’re living in one.

TY @sun-sentinel.com for including my piece

Kirk certainly had the right to hold those views and air those views and most definitely should not have been murdered for them, but people, even if they happen to be teachers, have a right to disagree with his views.

The world is bad enough, and online communication is so poor, that we should be concerned about how we interact with strangers.

Words are important, as is the way we interact. Despite everything, there are still people behind the screens and you don't know if they're having a bad day.

I miss Blockbuster. There’s just something about the *physicality* of picking out the movie you’re gonna watch that streaming can’t replace.
