saw someone call schumer cowardly and chide him for lacking the backbone to call for ICE to be abolished, & it must once again be pointed out that that is untrue. he is not trying to oppose the republicans and failing, he is on the same team as the republicans, and his enemy is you

Rowling's fascism aside, the age of Gen Z is between 14 - 28 years old. One should be out of their Harry Potter phase by then. The fact that Millennials stuck with it was (and should be) anomalous. If the Potterverse has any future, look to Gen Alpha.
In @nytopinion.nytimes.com

Younger generations “have fallen out of love with Harry Potter because they have fallen out of love with the worldview the series represents,” writes Louise Perry. “Which is to say that young people have fallen out of love with liberalism.”
Opinion | Why Gen Z Doesn’t Love ‘Harry Potter’
The wizarding worldview is naïve.

ICE executed someone in the street outside the donut shop but it has not slowed down their active raids on homes and businesses in neighborhoods all around the cities so please be vigilant.
They are executing unarmed people in the streets for trying to protect their neighbors with the full support of the federal government.

I'm a huge Alex Garland fan. I intend to remain so by never watching Civil War.

You should be deeply suspicious of anyone who tells you what "normal people" are like.

Pitchfork reveals the guidelines behind its numerical rating system:

4.1 - 6.0, mid
6.1 - 7.0, prestige mid
7.1 - 8.0, actually great, but not in a hot genre
8.1 - 9.0, good in a hot genre
9.1 - 9.9, great in a hot genre
10 - [no longer exists]

Frieren is not a fascist show. It is Proustian.

Honestly, I'm fine with A Song and Ice and Fire not being finished. I like a ton of unfinished stuff (Nana!) so I know that partially completed stories can still stand the test of time.

That terrible TV conclusion probably makes this easier for me, NGL.

Imagine investing the world economy in data centers just to get beaten by a girl with a box of pencils.
From "Frieren" Season 2 ending, animated with colored pencils by Mimei Aoume (she had already worked on Season 1 ending).

This whole Nobel Peace Prize thing is probably the most craven thing I have ever seen in my life. I've seen far worse things in my day, but nothing so spineless.

Trying to come up with a mnemonic device to remember which is "uke" and which is "seme."

I think that if you dismiss something as "not deep" then you should provide an example of something that does seem deep to you. I'd like to know.

You want movie characters to turn to the audience and directly spell out their personal values because you can't handle ambiguity.

I want movie characters to turn to the audience and directly spell out their personal values because I want verisimilitude destroyed.

We are not the same.

I wanted to say "Dangerous Liaisons" in the style of Rose of Versailles, but I think we might have too many adaptations of that already.

So instead, I'm saying "The Hunger" in the style of CLAMP.
we often talk about “what anime would you adapt into a movie” but here is a reverse: what movies would you adapt into an anime?

Maybe the reason why I can't bring myself to care about Nick Fuentes, as awful as he seems to be, is that I feel like I went through all this before with Richard Spencer. Remember him? He was the guy the left needed to defeat ten years ago. Well, he's gone now, and was easily replaced by a new guy.
