AI shit isn't hitting just PC RAM

It's hitting fab capacity for high bandwith memory in general

This gonna get a lot worse before it gets better

So... When Ukraine pulls out of, errm... Ukraine?
Putin told reporters that the fighting will end when Ukrainian forces withdraw from the territories they currently hold.

Saying "without further ado" is ado in itself. Stop it. Get on with it. Shut up and cut the video. Edit your shit. Fuck.

Got woken up to a UPS beeping twice last night. But the power was still on. Very confusing, especially on a few hours sleep.

First time I figured the power cord was loose and reseated it. Started beeping again after 30 mins. I unplugged it and turned it off for the night.

Rethinking my stance on "everything should be made of metal instead of cheap plastic" after realising how bad this is when it's icy cold and anything made of metal is painful to touch.

Definitely no longer want a metal mouse or key caps.

Was using Notepad to take down notes from phone calls earlier.

Not only does the cursor stop flashing after a while, like in other apps on newer Windows versions... in Notepad it now completely disappears after a few seconds.

There's absolutely nothing to show where text will appear when you type.

"Xbox’s Downfall - How Microsoft Fumbled An Entire Generation"

Hey, that's unfair. Credit where it's due. They have fumbled *two* entire generations *so far*.

Neighbour has been helping me this morning trying to find a heating oil company that'll actually deliver to me this year.

So many local numbers on the web no longer work. We were even trying to read phone numbers off the sides of fuel trucks parked at a nearby gas station on StreetView, haha.

Gaben is rich enough that he could start his own payment processor, and bribe Trump with a large enough gold trinket that he makes the US government pay to provide a free Steam Machine (with 16GB VRAM) to every home in the world. He's sleeping on that stash.

Imagine if you and a team of experts discovered a signal from outer space, assembled a team of experts to decode it, and finally found out it was just a TV transmission that kept going, with an episode of their alien version of something like Baywatch. Series 6, so it's unfixable lore skipping, too.

If I remember rightly, MotorStorm was one of the games emulation was struggling with, so this is a really nice milestone.

(Not a game I liked, but other people did. Great graphics at the time but I got bored of it really quickly. I'm just glad emulation is mature enough now that it can run it.)

While it wasn't useful, I didn't mind when the old start menu did a web search and showed it a the column on the right. It was easy to ignore.

But the new one displays everything in one place, making it really unclear if you've found a program you installed or a webpage about it. It's madness.

Heh, just reminded that I half got a printer because people kept assuming I had one and asking if I could print something for them.

The way WinDbg, a low-level debugging tool for programmers, is now a Microsoft Store app, even if you download it from the web, which in turn means it has an obfuscated and ever-changing path, which you cannot find easily (you need admin rights just to list the folder; it has no start menu shortcut)

My obit for DOGE points out that in the end it didn’t even save money. It did kill 430,000 children, though. If the goal was to eliminate foreigners, DOGE was a stunning success. About 64 expired for every AID employee fired or placed on administrative leave.

DOGE May Be Dead, But Its Crimes Live On
A now-abolished agency that never was did a remarkable amount of damage—including, surprisingly, to the budget deficit.
