I know too many younger trans adults whose parents don't accept them, and it breaks my heart to pieces.

To those parents:

Listen to your kids.

Believe your kids.

Love your kids unconditionally.

Educate yourself.

Join groups like PFLAG for support and resources.

1. In a devastating new Pew Research Survey, only 3 in 10 transgender adults report being accepted by their parents.

And only 1 in 10 say they are accepted by their extended family.

This is the lowest number ever found in surveys asking similar questions.

There are other organizations to join in the meantime, such as @uabookbans.bsky.social. Some states also have freedom to read coalitions to join.

If you're not a published author or illustrator, there are other organizations you can join or subscribe to if you want to help protect the freedom to read. @uabookbans.bsky.social is one. @flfreedomread.bsky.social and @txfreedomread.bsky.social are major organizations to follow in those states.
