Someone doused Renee Good’s Minneapolis memorial and a nearby pile of wood with gasoline and started a fire at about 9 p.m. Tuesday.

I have blocked so many people who are equating yelling at a sidewalk-blocking delivery robot with "bullying." THE ROBOT DOES NOT HAVE FEELINGS. Of course, these are probably also the same people who think LLMs have souls.
People continue to be the worst in defense of the sidewalk robots

I hope New Yorkers will challenge Mamdani about this. Too often, people feel they need to be absolutely for or against a politician — ignoring their missteps or throwing them out with the bathwater. You can like and/or believe in someone and still challenge them to deliver on their promises.

Hi, bsky. Working on a story about how federal immigration arrests have carried on in and around Chicago even without Cmdr. Bovino and CBP roving around here. If you have been involved in an arrest — as a bystander, protester, community support worker etc — I would love to talk to you. Email in bio.

I regularly see people wondering how it's possible that there are so many musicians and writers and film makers and artists from a tiny nation like Iceland.

And the answer is really simple: State funding for art education and artists. I literally get a salary from the government to write books.
I’m constantly astounded at the sheer level of artistic production coming out of Iceland. Novels, movies, music. Amazing.

Regardless of what the cosplay catholics think, Ash Wed is not a Holy Day of Obligation. You can go to Mas or not, and there is absolutely no rule that you have to have your ashes on all day. Particularly since today's reading tells us that it is better to pray in in secret, unlike the hypocrites.

Organizers attached to this include some of the folks who did very effective work around observer training, the economic strike day Jan 23, and more. These folks mean business
MAJOR: Twin Cities Tenants joins five labor unions, together repping 25,900 members, to launch a rent strike drive, vowing to withhold rent March 1 if @governorwalz.mn.gov fails to deliver an eviction moratorium and rent relief. If launched, this would be the largest US rent strike in 100+ years.

That EveryWriter post is also a great example of the anatomy of a Threads post, actually—intentionally inflammatory rhetorical question delivered with an air of innocuous curiosity in order to farm engagement for an account with very little to offer. You’re on Bluesky! You’re too old for that!

CHEESE ACHIEVED!

Also, ice packs to replace the ones I've been using since June. Thanks, Tillamook. That's like a gift with purchase.

Dammit, venue feed. Why am I getting the subtitles for the commentary again? I venue feed precisely so that I don't have to deal with commentary. You are disrupting my peace.

I enjoy Notting Hill as much as the next person & will almost always watch it when I run across it while browsing, but I will seek out Fire Island.

@cbsnews.com Can you hurry up & fire Bari Weiss already? I really miss Star Trek, but won't renew my Paramount+ subscription until she's gone. CBS was my family news source throughout my childhood & continued to be my network of choice, but Weiss has utterly destroyed any goodwill I held.

She’s in Mendocino. A little shy. VERY sweet. 8 years old. And was well loved.

Can anyone give her a soft spot to land?

That face!

If not, can you share?

I need to go reorganize my refrigerator because I may or may not have gone a little cheese-crazy a few days ago & it's scheduled to arrive *tomorrow.*
Today is apparently National Cheddar Day & also Tillamook's birthday, so they're offering free shipping on their website with code LOAFIELOVE. They also introduced a line of Tillamook Baby Loaf stuffies, which are not as cute as Team Poland's pierogi stuffies.
