It's all very simple:

If you have to ask "Is it taxable?" - it probably is.

If you have to ask "Is it deductible?" - it probably isn't.

As a Jew, it’s fun watching the administration post Christian nationalist messages while also saying they are doing everything they can to curb antisemitism.
Here’s the U.S. government being officially religious in a country with no official religion.

This is a bad change from the USPS. It's like they want to much up the system.

Just like the shipment I'm waiting on from Supermarket Italy that's been bouncing around NJ for over a week and doesn't appear to be heading to Texas anytime soon.
Updated postmark rules are redefining what we think of as “on time.” This could have big implications for year-end givers and for taxpayers at tax time.

I posted a summary on the Exclusive Citizenship Act of 2025, a bill that would ban dual citizenship in the U.S.

I covered the tax angles, including what this could mean for expats, Accidental Americans, and the Exit Tax.

The Exclusive Citizenship Act of 2025: What It Could Mean for Dual Citizens and U.S. Taxpayers
This One Hits Close to Home Over the past few years, I went through the long (and honestly, emotional) process of having my Italian citizenship recognized through jure sanguinis—citizenship by descent. It was something I’d been working toward for years, and finally receiving confirmation from Italy was incredibly meaningful. My great-grandparents immigrated from Abruzzo, so gaining dual citizenship felt like closing a family history loop.

Tex-Mex Cranberry Sauce: A Spicy Twist on a Holiday Classic
Growing up, I always skipped the “cranberry sauce.” It looked more like Jell-O than food, and the unmistakable can-shaped ridges didn’t exactly inspire confidence. I’d either avoid it completely or take the smallest possible spoonful just to be polite. Nothing about it felt like something that belonged on a dinner plate. That changed once I started cooking for myself. When we created our Tex-Mex Chorizo and Jalapeño Dressing years ago, we paired it with a spicy cranberry sauce—one I can’t find the recipe for anymore, but it left a huge impression on me.

🌿 Easy Chicken Pozole Verde – Comforting Green Chile Soup with Hominy and Tomatillos Pozole is one of those dishes that fills the house with warmth and the kind of aroma that makes everyone wander into the kitchen. This version of Chicken Pozole Verde started from a recipe printed on the back of a can of Las Palmas Green Chile Enchilada Sauce — but with a few tweaks (and a little inspiration from Curt), it’s become our go-to bowl of comfort.

Spicy Italian Chicken and Potatoes Sheet Pan Dinner
We're currently up in Breckenridge, CO, and made this incredible Spicy Italian Chicken and Potatoes Sheet Pan Dinner. It all started when we found a great deal on frozen Tyson Boneless Skinless Diced Chicken Breasts. We also found some new potatoes on sale, so we bought a bunch. When we got home, we started searching for recipes that would use both of them.
