This is a particular favourite - the idea that some voter in Crewe or Carlisle will remember in 2029 that their MP sent a tweet congratulating the newly elected New York Mayor and judge on his record accordingly, guys most people barely know who the Prime Minister is, you have Twitter brain rot

What in the Temu gold stencilling kit is this?
New sign outside the Oval Office..
It was more of a drizzly dazzle, to be fair.

perhaps not the same, but one of the oldest books in The Parker Library (poss the Augustine Gospels?) has a simple but beautifully coloured picture of an eagle captioned not "Aquila" but "IMAGO aquilam" just in case anyone looked at it and went "but that's NOT an eagle, it's a PICTURE of one"
Needs a power wash. 😬
I was there for the six nil win over Millwall... #justsaying

If nothing else, this thread reassures me that AI hasn't quite got the measure of us yet. 🙃
Yes, Fenwick has similar pronunciation to Alnwick. 👍
In Brum, off-licences were called 'outdoors'. Some off-licences were actually in pubs, and thus known as 'indoor outdoors'. 👍
Liquid football, in every sense. #bcfc 🌧 ⚽️
I have a friend who used to insist on calling the shop "Everything's One Pound", because that's what the sign said. And another friend who used to shudder if people referred to the department store "Fenwick's", rather than "Fenwick". 😵‍💫

Happy 100th birthday to our Students' Union building! 🎈

Our Students' Union on King's Walk opened its doors for the very first time in 1925. Today it is home to over 28,000 students and more than 260 sports clubs and societies 🙌

Cars the U.K are up to 55% larger today than they were in the 1970s and there are twice the number of motors on our roads as there were 30 years ago, but anti-Low Traffic Neighbourhood and anti-cycle lane campaigners keep claiming they 'cause congestion'.

Okay.
I keep hearing "at pace" every time a politician speaks. 😔 Because 'quickly' or 'fast' aren't pompous enough.

Age restrictions on social media for over 50s.
A friend told me that her American dad got in touch to talk about some news he'd seen on Facebook: there are riots in England over DEI, and the King dramatically burst into parliament to tell Starmer off, and then Prince William did the same to Sadiq Khan. AI really is inventing bold new universes
BW was even worse. 😃 I prefer "you may wish to note the above".
I remember patiently learning "Veuillez agréer, monsieur/madame, l'expression de mes sentiments les plus distingués" in O Level French, and wishing it could be shortened somewhat, but perhaps we've gone too far... 🤔

Just a thought but maybe people should just ignore Matt Goodwin? Constantly going on about his utterly stupidity just seems to fuel it.

The bloke is a crank, let him do it to the void that is Xitter.
How about 'best' on its own?
