So, I have a question for the peeps out there who submit short stories to literary magazines: do y'all have any good tips/resources on how to write a cover letter? It seems kinda daunting—especially since several magazines on my list do not want me to summarize/pitch the story itself.

A lot of us writers ARE the poor. And we buy books just fine. Second, are you gonna say the same to any other artisan or craftsman that "sorry, withholding cabinetry from the poor is classiest; open a patreon!"? No? Then stfu.

I say this 100 percent without irony: there is a reason why artists, craftsmen, and philosophers all have the same patron deity within my stories. Because artistry requires both craftsmanship and philosophy, and it's as simple as that.
Anyway, since it's come up again, a friendly reminder that artists are craftspeople, and if you don't think carpenters are "cabinetry landlords" then artists can't be "ideas landlords" either.

When sub calls call for specific groups - pay attention. You do not submit if you do not identify with the groups stated.
