You guys have a bad game from your childhood that you played relentlessly just because you had it? One of my favorites was Les Manley in The Search for the King, a point and click adventure game where you are looking for Elvis.

In this case "some reason" translates to predatory financial practices that lead to poor products that consumers are disinterested in and bleak artistic vision that leads to developer burnout and mass exodus of talented staff from the industry. But yeah, for "some reason" people are frustrated.
