The denial that objective truth exists supports those who rely solely on narratives for their knowledge of the world and undermines those who rely on data and facts for their knowledge of the world.

Writers who rely on objective truth are journalists. Those who rely on narratives are propagandists.

It's hard to believe that Tesla's earnings are going to spike hard enough to justify the 200 P/E when the corporation's earnings are falling.

All promises of future earnings need to be viewed in the context of the fact that Elon Musk has a long, unbroken history of unfulfilled promises.

A party with a narrow majority should not get everything they want, even their most extreme policies, while the party with almost half of the seats gets nothing of what they want and has no power to moderate the majority's impulses.

Denying the voice of 47% just isn't democratic.

The Congress should reach the majority votes necessary to pass legislation through negotiation and compromise.

The Senate filibuster works to assure that compromise.

The current GOP tactic of refusing to negotiate or compromise is contrary to the way this is supposed to work.

Republicans have a majority in the House of Representatives 219 - 214 (once Rep. Grijalva is sworn in).

The situation in the Senate is just about the same: 53 Republicans, 45 Democrats plus 2.

So both houses are just about evenly divided and outcomes should reflect this nearly even division.

As the majority party, the GOP has the duty to bring a bill that can pass. They aren't doing their job.

Worse, they refuse to negotiate with Democrats to get a bill that can pass. That's their choice. They are choosing shutdown over negotiation and compromise.

Their choice, their shutdown.

The inflatable costume store is still open and doing business.

President Trump, who is clearly demented, has lost all connection with the truth and reality.

My only question is whether he thinks up this nonsense for himself or if someone is feeding it to him.

Does that mean that other people like watching vintage exploitation sword and sorcery schlock?

Free baseball!

Only sad thing is that beer sales ended in the 7th.

Every time the Trump administration says there isn't money for Americans in need, we will respond with "But there's $20 billion for Argentina"

I don't know.

I was mocking the standard of proof you were expecting from an internet rando (me).

But you beat me with your presumption that I was being earnest.
charliemas.bsky.social
Ask the frog yourself if you need that standard of proof.
charliemas.bsky.social
Yes. There's video of the Portland frog getting shot with pepperballs and suffering no harm.
charliemas.bsky.social
Well, yeah. But among costumes that look ridiculous and ridicule, the inflatable ones have these advantages.

Most of those people are press. So not antifa, but still her enemies.

Some people base their knowledge of the world on data and facts, and other people, like Secretary Noem, base their knowledge of the world on what they wished were true.

Is she sure it wasn't just her aura that drove everyone away?

I'm sorry, what? A triumphal arch?

Celebrating what triumph? No. Forget that. It doesn't matter.

War is not to be glorified. We mourn our war dead. We don't celebrate triumphs with statuary. The whole idea is sick and un-American.

Assuming RFJ Jr.'s data is correct, which is a very big assumption, something tells me that children who are circumcised early have double the opportunity to be diagnosed.

Imagine how much frothier the stock market would be if cryptocurrency were not siphoning off the most irrationally exuberant money.

The old gatekeepers with their bias towards the status quo kept the dangerous ones and the idiots from reaching an audience, but the system was exploitative and anti-democratic.

The new gatekeepers are still exploitative and anti-democratic, but they don't keep out the dangerous and the idiots.
