Let silly hacks go and work on their next bit of Westminster gossip. THIS is the main news from that conference. The clearest indication yet, right from the top.

No that's not *your* on *our behalf*. Your job is to report the story, presenting all sides fairly and then *we* call it. What Mason is saying here is fundamentally not what the bbc is for!

It's also untrue. Maybe half his fans are blind to it. A lot of the people considering voting for him are doing so as a roll of the dice, seeing him as a blank canvas. Their views of him can be changed.

Reform UK’s Russia shame is rooted in Farage’s long record of licking Putin’s boots. He’s pushed Kremlin-soaked bullshit for years on Russian TV, then pretends innocence now Putin’s exposed as a tyrant. His only consistency is hypocrisy and talking utter crap. #ukpolitics

The evidence emerging against Palestine Action is utterly chilling. It is alleged they horsewhipped a security guard and threatened him with a sledge hammer. It is also alleged they broke a female police officer’s back with a sledge hammer. This is not normal protest.

This site is as f****d up as the other one in many ways. A complete lack of perspective from many "Mahmoud and Starmer are just like the Nazis", and a moral and ideological certainty about their worldview.
November 17, 2025 at 7:03 PM
The outrageous comparisons between Mahmood’s asylum proposals and what the Nazis did to Jews are utterly reprehensible and often antisemitic.
November 17, 2025 at 7:26 PM
Those who:
want the asylum system to remain the same
don’t want to see a Muslim woman get to grips with asylum and immigration, will be unhappy.
Whatever you think about Mahmood, her command of the asylum system and the bitter Tory inheritance is formidable.

Also, frankly, you need to stop rewarding this shrillness. I see plenty of people with whom I interact make similarly ludicrous grandiose statements, knowing they will get them the validation of "likes". That is the way to take a calm, friendly online space and make it a left mirror-image of X.

After the election of the dismal Lucy Powell, anyone who thinks the very able Streeting is a shoo in as a replacement for Starmer, needs to think again.

I don't really understand the 'Trump sueing the the BBC' thing. The UK courts would dismiss it; the US courts don't have jurisdiction. I guess he could try & ban BBC America...

It's like Hitler sueing America for allowing Chaplin's Great Dictator in cinemas

Trump can sod off

Really? You think Truss would’ve improved workers rights? Improved renters rights and boosted green energy? Please, you’re perfectly at liberty to dislike the government, but keep it credible
I think it's safe to assume now that the current government is led by a bunch of morons.

I kinda get that Labour need to be a bit like the tories to get into power but this lot seems to have taken inspiration from the Johnson & Truss era.

Starmer can't say this publicly but it's what he and Labour should be telling the BBC very clearly and aggressively in private.
The resignations of Tim Davie and Deborah Turness must be an opportunity for the BBC to turn a new leaf, rebuild trust and resist those like Nigel Farage who want to destroy it

We must stand up for a strong, independent BBC, to stop Trump’s America becoming Farage's Britain.
