What will happen to Gary Lineker, if he tries to enter to report on the World Cup?
Jeez. All tourists - including those from Britain - will have to undergo a social media screening before being allowed entry into the US under new plans being considered by the country's border force

US plans to start checking all tourists' social media
The potential social media mandate being proposed by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) would apply to anyone visiting, whether they require a visa or not.

Come off it. The UK government, including the prime minister, says stronger stuff than this (IMV to an unwise degree) about China *all the time*.
Sorry but this is exactly the gotcha style of questioning that inevitably brings democracy into disarray. Governments can't actually say everything they want about foreign leaders because that is diplomacy. Headline either way. And unscrupulous leaders who don't care are the winners.

To beat the populists, politicians need to…

1. Fully understand the nature of the mortal threat facing the country.

2. Ditch convention, and devise an effective strategy to defeat it.

There’s no sign the government has even reached step 1.

FFS. If the far right had been this lukewarm and timid, they'd never have got their Brexit! This isn't the time to say what CAN'T be done, it's a time to decide what you want and to fight to make it happen. It's time to grasp that politics is the art of the possible! Fortune favours the brave!
