As of 8 October 2025, there were a total of 2917 COVID-19 cases identified in hospital settings in week 40, increasing from 2547 cases in the previous week. SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) PCR positivity in hospital settings increased in week 40, with a weekly average positivity rate of 12.9% compared with 11.7% in the previous week. Positivity rates were highest in those aged 85 years and over at a weekly average positivity rate of 18.8%. This increased when compared with week 39, when positivity rates were at 16.6% among those aged 85 years and over Line chart titled “COVID-19 like” from the emergency department syndromic surveillance system. It shows a sharp peak around October 2024, a long low plateau through mid-2025, and a steep rise again approaching October 2025.
