And when you get back, not everyone will open the door for you. You are not guaranteed forgiveness.

If you spend 10 years hurting someone, and ask, "If I spend 10 years making amends, will you forgive me?" Even if they say no, you should still do the work.

Their forgiveness should not be your goal

"Never again" wasn't supposed to mean "nothing that ever happens can be compared to this"
one of the many instances of cognitive dissonance I'm trying to deal with is how the older generations literally raised us on books about the horrors of people having to hide in basements in attics and now when we point out what's happening today, they tell us we're being "extreme"
This is one of the things that I find is most shocking to people outside Minnesota who don’t realize it yet—the scale at which everyone who isn’t white has been forced into a spectrum of hiding.

Very good article drawing out the Tahrir Square comparison.

No one earns grace by seeing things differently

This is work your brain performed for you

The grace derives from what you do with your newfound clarity
Bluesky idea: if people who didn't agree with you change their opinions so that they do agree with you, why not be happy that you are making progress - rather than complaining that they are "only just catching up"?

Conflicting info about whether Pretti was murdered by ICE or CBP makes it clear that ICE is not single "rogue agency"

ICE, CBP and ALL policing & borders must be abolished. This isn't just one agency; its an entire infrastructure of carceral control, illegalization & criminalization, and fascism.

All three of these Sweet Mimosa XL autos germinated but one hasn’t shown true leaves while the other two are showing their second set. The Banjo outside is leggy, less lateral. I guess the hope is sunlight is triggering deep root development.

I reached out to a friend in the Minnesota Orchestra to check in on him and he's hanging in there but said it is a nightmare there.

He shared this mutual aid link with me and asked me to share it.

I donated $20 to three organizations. Looking for 10 people to match me.

When the state rescinds all rights as you have already seen here but the people continue to exercise them anyway, it reminds us these rights were never “of the state” and that the state’s legitimacy derives solely from its ability to humbly promote and guard them

One thing cops actually are trained to do when trying to control a space is gently touch people as a means of asserting authority and implied consent for further nonconsensual “touching.” This can get mistaken for deescalation but ofc it isn’t.
