The lords have caved already and the planning bill will now go back to the commons with no amendments. There’s now nothing stopping it going through unless Labour MPs magically gain a backbone which we know won’t happen. Goodbye nature. Goodbye endangered species 💔

All of the data on Brexit should really be taken as an emergency for discussing a new referendum to rejoin. Brexit was always a bad idea, to downsize UK power in a modern world of continental superpowers - as is being proven by every data point.
Still reeling from the Stanford report on Brexit. Reduced GDP by up to 8% and investment by as much as 18%. The UK Treasury would have £40 billion more each year if Britain had remained in the EU. Devastating self-immolation.

Just seen the feature on Gardeners world, superb and with it your very important message. Hope it inspires more builders and estates to do something in their local community that promotes wildlife and biodiversity for the future.

"You can agree or disagree with him, but Polanski does not pretend to be something he is not.

He is unusually willing for a politician to give a straight answer to questions.

Does he want to rejoin the EU? “Yes."

More powerful evidence of the disaster of #Brexit from @jonathanfreedland.bsky.social. If we’re to avoid yet more austerity, we need to start by rejoining the customs union & single market. Brexit was a reckless waste of money we simply can’t afford @europeanmovement.co.uk
Rachel Reeves is studiously ignoring the cause of Britain’s woes: the Brexit-shaped hole in its roof | Jonathan Freedland
The autumn budget will mop up some damage, but the true source of the economic crisis is clear. The government should now fix it – tragically, it won’t, says Guardian columnist Jonathan Freedland

The same view on the same date in 2023 and 2025. All forecasts this year were for the best autumn colours ever. Isn't it reassuring that we must admit we don't know everything: a bit of humility goes a long way!

Lovely sunny (cold!) walk for Brightlingsea U3A today. Couple of pix: a splendid Robin (Also Stonechat, Kingfisher, Snipe, Little Egret, Brent Geese) and a food-filled hedge with pollen/nectar from Winter Jasmine and Maiden's Bower & Firethorn fruit. Bonus Red Admiral in the warmth out of the wind.
