And if you know your mythology, BAD THINGS happen to people who break the rules of hospitality.
Thinking about whoever said that by accepting a meal from people and then arresting them ICE agents broke a cultural taboo that was invented by, like, the first humans to set up a tent

the kids and the commies are always right, nobody ever listens to them and nobody ever learns a single lesson from being completely wrong about everything all the time because capitalism gives them headpats and belly rubs for refusing to change
All the anti-war and anti-occupation protestors were right. All the far leftists were right. All the “woke scolds” and your friend who’s “too woke” were right. They were somehow even more right than they may have realized at the time. But really, it was always obvious they were right.

And down the road in the brutal cold, more Minnesotans are forming a blockade of the road. Sheriff's officers issuing warnings from their vehicles.

The best way of describing someone who’s all talk and no action that I’ve ever heard in the UK, by far, is “they’re all wardrobe and no Narnia.”

The last general strike in Minneapolis was in 1934.

It started in May, leading to a series of small battles between strikers and police. The two sides agreed to a contract on May 25.

Employers reneged in July, and police opened fire on protesters who flooded the streets. Two died, 67 were wounded.

After 9/11, the US invoked Article 5 of the NATO treaty and every NATO member helped to combat terrorism.

Some of our closest allies, like Denmark, went even further, voluntarily sending troops to Afghanistan and Iraq in support of US-led wars there.

Today, Trump is threatening to attack Denmark.

You don't know what day it is.
You're eating countless meals a day with lots of snacks in between.
You're napping throughout they day.
Either it's the time between Christmas and New Year or you're a cat.

I learned today (watching Jeopardy) that the original lyrics of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" included the line "it might be your last". But Judy Garland took that away from us by refusing to sing it.

On the seventh day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Seven swans a-swimming,
Six geese a-laying,
Five golden rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.

I have a running list of questions on my phone labeled "is he dead?" that poses a list of various scenarios from the plausible (did he have a heart attack?) to the ludicrous (Did he fall through a trap door into a tank of sharks with lasers on their heads?). I find it soothing, highly recommend.
