I am standing by the bench on the field. It is overcast. It was drizzling a few minutes ago. Everything is wet and green. Charlotte is digging a hole as is Jane. Lord Byron is losing balls in the tall grass. Devil cat just joined us. It’s 14C/57F. I hope everyone is having a nice day.

I really, really wish people would get off Substack. Aside from their well-known hateful politics, they have a hostile process. I signed up for a newsletter and watched carefully for "subscribe to these too" bullshit and did not see it. And BOOM. I was subbed to 3 other newsletters. Fuck off.

I went outside with my tea to listen to the owls hooting for a bit. One is quite close, the other is farther away. I'm in my room right now but I can hear them. Also, we've finally had enough rain that the frogs are calling too.

Good morning from NorCal. It's dark, damp, and 13C/55F. Lord Byron is in the kitchen with Dad. Elderly Cat, Charlotte, and Jane are snoozing on my bed. Devil Cat just wandered in. I have delicious tea. Have a wonderful day!

No bluets under the Cypress. The ground is getting very soggy so it’s a treacherous trek to get there, especially since the grass is so thick and right now beat down that I don’t know where the badger holes are. But I made it without killing myself.

I’m by the bench in the field. It is raining the oyster mushrooms on the oaks are back in full force plus. There are birds singing, it is raining but not hard. 24 hour total as of 9:30AM 1.09 inches. Still no water running in the creek. I’m gonna go look to see if there’s bluets Under the Cypress

More people have died in ICE detention in 2025 than any year since 2004.

At least 30 detainees have died in 2025, prompting concerns about deteriorating conditions at facilities even as the agency has received an infusion of cash from Congress.

Good morning from NorCal. It's dark, damp, and 13C/55F. I peeked at the rain gauge and the column was full, meaning an inch of rain! All dogs are in my room snoozing or looking for trouble. Elderly Cat is thinking about snoozing. I am still on vacation and it is wonderful. I hope everyone is well!

I’m at the bench in the field. It is raining but not too hard. Still no water in the creek. I can just see Lord Byron‘s head sticking up out of the grass as he wills me to throw another ball. Charlotte is digging a hole. Jane is not OK with this rain business .

My holiday shopping fund is an all cash affair of all the money I set aside over the year. I spread about the cash in downtown stores which is always fun. Usually when I'm done, I give the remaining cash to someone or someplace in need. -->

Cheers from NorCal! It's dark, misty, VERY foggy, and 13C/55F. The paper was not there when I checked so another trek is in order at some point. All pets snoozing. For some reason my coffee is not perfect this morning. I'm bearing up under the disappointment. Have a super day!

Greetings from NorCal. It's dark, overcast, 11C/52F, and foggy. Charlotte and Jane are snuggled up under my formerly neatly made blankets, Lord Byron is in the kitchen explaining he is about to expire from lack of food. Today's tea is Wu Liang Hong Mao Feng Yunnan Black tea and it is excellent.
