Finally, and most importantly, please give the creators of these plugins we use so much some love. I know this is rough for them and probably heartbreaking.

- Penumbra collections still work friends! I'm gonna be making some for all of my close friendos and if you would like to do the same with yours, I encourage you to. (Just be mindful of file size please.)

- C+ profiles are also able to be sent to friends to make collections with.

After looking into the Mare news further and talking to friends, here's what I know 🧵:

- MCDFs still work now, but will not once Mare is down due to Brio needing it to load them.

- The Brio dev has stated plans to implement offline MCDF functionality. (Awesome! ❤️)

it just feels lame to be glad its going away bc you thought some ppl were yucky in the balmung quicksands or had cringe aesthetic choices. not saying you have to respect it, but have some consideration into what else is being lost, and who its impacting?

just remember when you're doing donuts in celebration that the loss of this is also meaning that it will become a lot harder to have ppl see their character with the right body type or gender. for some ppl thats really valuable for their self-expression. ffxiv doesn't really give us alternatives.

i will just say -- celebrating mare being shut down bc you thought some ppl were publicly obnoxious just feels super reductive and juvenile. it was a tool used by pretty much every single person i know and was very important to ppl in being able to convey their character. losing it sucks a lot!

Latest Windows 11 is corrupting various SSD's, so best not to update for a while, or to uninstall the update KB5063878 if you have it (and then proceed to turn off immediate auto-updates until resolved). It seems to mostly affect people downloading/transferring (creating?) large 50GB+ files.

instead of people complaining in the forums about the takedown I think people should just address the core root of the issue that we don’t have enough diversity in the character creator & hinge our criticism on that. that’s ultimately what a lot of us were trying to solve, so make them answer for it
